Work In Progress - Wild Things!

Continuing with the botanic garden theme this week, here's how the iguana has come along so far. Working on the rest of the piece this afternoon. Some pics of the process, from pencil, to ink, to Photoshop color. And a few shots I took while taking Maggie out in the backyard. Inspiration is everywhere you look!

Medellin Botanic Garden

The hubs and I went to the Botanic Gardens this weekend. It's located in the heart of the city, and you can find hundreds of plants (native, medicinal, etc) and animals, such as iguanas, birds, and insects. Some pics of our day there and a quick notebook sketch of a friend we made.

Bird, Flower, and Leaves

Exploring some vector art inspired by the Mola patterns of the Kuna indians from Colombia. Molas are the traditional costumes worn by the women from this indigenous group. They're made with layers upon layers of fabric and completely embellished by hand.

I'm Going Back to School with Lilla Rogers!

Super excited to be able to participate in Lilla Roger's MATS (Make Art That Sells) e-course (A and B) that starts March the 2nd! I can't wait to learn, grow, expand my art-making horizons, and be inspired by Lilla and hundreds of wonderful artists who will be joining me. I will post my progress in this blog! :)

Updates!

It's been an intense month so far! Lots of stuff going on. My band participated in Fender Day (for those who don't know, I play bass in a prog rock band and have been an avid Fender musical instruments fan for years) last Sunday and we had a whole lotta fun.

Migratory birds have been flocking our city over the past few weeks. I was so lucky and excited to have been able to see this with my own eyes yesterday. Thousands (and I mean THOUSANDS) of migratory hawks in the sky heading south. Amazing!

I've been working on a side project called Hibou, where I'm making mini-cement planters, candles, and necklaces. A few pics of these past few weeks and today's pattern. Hope you like it :)

Forest Animals

Today kinda feels like a Friday and I can't yet figure out why. So in the mean time, here's today's pattern! Forest animals. :)

Solarized Water, Flamingos, and Desk Essentials

Everybody should solarize their water. Put tap water in recycled (clean) wine bottles and let them soak in the sun all morning. This filters and makes the water more alkaline. The taste is really different and fresh!!! Give it a try.

Some desk essentials: solarized water, lavender oil, pencils, pens, paper, glass jars, sunshine, blue sky, music (preferably classic rock or new age).
